NYSAWWA Adds Best Tasting Water Contest to Annual Water Event

To better align the Section’s best tasting water competition with the national competition hosted by AWWA, we will hold judging of water samples at our annual Spring Water Event, taking place at the Saratoga Hotel and Conference Center, Saratoga Springs April 20th – 22nd.

The winner of the Section’s contest will compete at the national contest sponsored by AWWA at its annual conference and exposition, to be held in Chicago, IL June 20th – 24th.

NOTE: In keeping with requirements of AWWA, the New York Section’s contest is open only to AWWA member utilities. We know that many non-member organizations have traditionally taken part in local best tasting water competitions sponsored by regional water conferences and local offices of the NYS Department of Health. We encourage these local contests to continue, as a way to draw public attention to the work we all do in providing safe, high-quality drinking water.

Contest Rules

1. All entries must have incurred no state or federal drinking water violations (MCL, monitoring, recordkeeping, etc.)
2. A representative from the water system must be present at the judging.
3. Bring two samples, each a 1-liter container. The container must be clearly marked with the water system's name.
4. Samples will be served at room temperature.
5. The winner will be announced immediately at the end of the contest.
