Brian Steenburn of the Village of Bloomfield beat out three other operators to win the Section’s 2011 Meter Madness competition. Brian heads to AWWA’s ACE in Washington, DC in June to take on winners from other sections.  John Murphy (right), Section Meter Madness coordinator, hands Brian his award while Dan Reed (left) of Master Meter, looks on. Master Meter is the sponsor of this year’s Meter Madness competition. 

The Westbury Water District can now boast that it has New York’s best tasting drinking water after judges gave the Nassau County village a combined score of 110 for taste, smell, clarity, color, odor, and aftertaste. Dix Hills Water District, the village of Corfu water, and the city of Kingston Water District followed closely with scores of 105, 102, and 100, respectively.
